Knights and Warlocks sample page

This is the subtitle to Book Two of Terra Aequitas, and the final Novel to be published in the future. The focus is centered on the battle against an evil enemy and his followers. One sample is added in a short context so as not make "spoilers" for anyone who has not read Book One. In this case, reading each book in the right order is strongly suggested. As in many cases, part 2 completes part 1, wrapping up questions from the first part very well. So, please enjoy!

The secretary turned her com off just as the door was accessed, and the head of security walked into his office.

Richard was not surprised to find Ronika sitting behind the desk.

"I see your access card works very well," he said.

"The eye scan is a bit exciting as well," she answered, as she moved over to the lazy couch.

She slipped off her skirt and began to unbutton her blouse to reveal an expensive lingerie attire.

"So tell me, what does the boss have in store for you?"

Richard Beaumont slipped off his blazer and tie, but approached Ronica to help her take off her blouse.

"I might get a promotion, but that's all i can say."

The secretary eased into the chair and beckoned Richard to join her.

"Whatever it is, i think it will be better for us. So, do whatever it takes to get that promotion."

Richard nodded and eased himself over the secretary to kiss her as two young lovers would do.

At the moment he was on top of the world, with a great job position, a beautiful girlfriend, and a boss who considered him to be better than his other employees.

He was in total bliss, oblivious to the repercussions of the actions he was about to take.

The restaurant was one of the few that tried to keep a vintage look, resembling restaurants that provided served meals to a large group of clients sitting in different tables.

This one was called a diner, but there were at least two separate areas to sit down and eat. While the larger area was for the general public, the second area was used for private meetings.

It was early morning, and at the moment, most people would only order coffee or a another hot beverage.

The private area was similar to a small meeting room, and a few tables were occupied with people who seemed to be enjoying their drinks and eating hotcakes.

A reserved sign set at the entrance was placed on top of the door.

There were at least six people, four men and two woman, drinking coffee and looking at their wristband coms to check social networks, or general information.

One man in particular was reading a bussiness document, not bothered that the others were not as focused on work as he was. He had long hair, which was tied back in a pony tail.

A waitress walked into the room to serve the clients more coffee, who kept silent as the young lady filled up their cups.

When she walked out, a middle aged-man with glasses walked in.

The people present immediately looked to see who had entered, and the man focused on reading work documents stood up at once.

"Percy, i see you made it. Glad to have you on our team," said the man with the pony tail.

The middle-aged man shook the other's hand and sat down at the first table with the man who seemed to be the team leader.

"You know everyone here, so, its time you present to us your mechanic prodigy."

The other fixed his glasses on his face and proceeded to turn on an image file on his wristband com.

"I've just sent you his resume, but i can tell you first hand, i have seen him repair and improve all kinds of things, from transport cars to spacefighters. He is the real deal. Besides, he can fly them as well."

The man with the pony tail looked at the image file a few seconds, as well as the image.

"He looks kinda young."

The man with glasses smiled.

"That is the best part. He is a prodigy, and he can stay working for us, for a very long time."

"Bet he costs a good coin."

Another man spoke up from another chair, sounding a bit negative.

The man with black-frames for glasses shook his head.

"The young man had some trouble and had to run away from the law. Peacekeepers were looking for him in Aquila 1. It's in his best interest to stay as far away from there as possible, and Aquila 8 is the right choice for the young man who wishes to become the best mechanic ever. All he needs is the right amount of money, a place to lay low, and some work to keep him busy. If we give him the right attention, he won't ask for anyting else."

"He sounds like the perfect guy. I look forward to meeting him."

A young girl with long wavy chestnut brown hair spoke up, and the man with glasses looked at her and suddenly turned red in the face.

"Yes, miss, quite a guy," he managed to studder. He tried not look at the woman's legs as she caressed her black leather skirt.

"Don't worry, Percy. She has that effect on every man, if they are normal," said the man with the pony tail. He looked at the girl. "And yes, she is an adult now, even though she dresses up like some rebel teenage student from some reject school."

The team leader looked at the young girl who kept a steady gaze on the man with black-framed glasses.

"Lexy, do you always have to wear them tube tops and mini-skirts?"

"Of course, boss, it makes me feel like a woman," answered Lexa with a crooked smile.

"Well, i think it's time to meet wonder boy and see what we think of him."

A man with a black leather jacket and boots stood up as he made his remark.

The man with black-framed glasses now made another strange expression as he studied this other subject that well-resembled the kind of men who were once considered adventurers for long trips on motorcycles. Something that was lost in history books. Bike riders with their ancient machines that were later replaced with hover cycles propelled by engines.

"What do you say, boss?"

"Chuck's right. We all want to see the prodigy kid for ourselves," said the team leader.

Percy stood up and looked towards the entrance.

"You can come in now," he said loud enough for the other to hear him.

A young man wearing a a brown leather jacket, loose jeans and conventional black shoes walked in. He was young in appearance, but his facial hair made him look a bit more sturdy, as if to say that he was probably not as nice as he looked, especially since he looked well-built and gave a better appearance for a man who liked to get his hands dirty and work with tools and heavy machinary.

If there was an image of the ideal mechanic, he would probably be the closest fit.

There were mixed looks for the first impression, where most of the men seemed serious, as if to keep their guard up, but Chuck and Lexa were immediately impressed, and didn't mind smiling to the newest member of the team. Another young member was just what they wanted.

Percy felt that things were going well as he made the proper introduction.

"Jonas March, meet Thadeus Alcazar."

The new guy just gave a quick nod of the head.

"And Thadeus, Jonas is the leader of this team."

Jonas took a moment to study the young man head to toe, and then offered a handshake, which the other accepted.

"Alright, let's give you a chance to prove yourself, Thadios?"

"It's okay," answered the young man. "Just call me Thad."
